I’m privileged to lead a missions outreach organisation that I founded by God’s grace with a group of like-minded friends. We visited the inmates in a prison close to us last week. The Lord placed the burden in our hearts, and even when we wanted to give up, He did not let us, His word kept us going.
Because we obeyed, we saw first-hand what happens when we obey God. The Holy Spirit literarily poured into us. We are unlikely to forget it and we will never remain the same. The poem below is our story:
Now we’re no longer the same
You inhabited our praises
And made it clear that You were in charge
Your presence wrapped us like a cloak
Exactly like you said it would.
The words were Your words
We saw the chains fall off just like You said they would
We saw light invade every darkness
We saw their eyes light up with hope
We saw the Spirit of peace settle like a dove
Even as the gates locked behind us, we knew You had stayed
Nothing would ever be the same in that place.
Your hands had touched their hearts and ours too
We are forever changed.
